The New Jersey Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (NJIAAI) constantly strives to serve our members with the best possible fire investigation training, information, and networking opportunities. Fire scenes and charred evidence items can pose a particular challenge to investigators trying to properly document items and structures during and after a fire incident. It’s important that investigators are able to take quality photos of a wide variety of subjects in conditions that are often wet, dark and exposed to the elements. This 16 hour hands-on course is designed to not only familiarize beginner to intermediate level students with the principles of forensic photography, but to also establish skills documenting crime scenes, evidence items, subjects, injuries, vehicles, and much more. For the course, each attendee is required to bring: any camera equipment normally carried for investigations, tripod, flashlight, and measuring device.
The course will be held at the Burlington County Emergency Services Training Center from Monday, June 19, 2023 through Wednesday, June 21, 2023. See the current AGENDA which is subject to change. The final agenda will be available the first day of class.
The course fee is $325.00 for Members (IAAI or NJIAAI Chapter) and $400.00 for Non-Members.

The New Jersey Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (NJIAAI) constantly strives to serve our members with the best possible fire investigation training, information, and networking opportunities. This one-day training course will discuss the effective documentation and inspection of fire protections and building systems to assist the fire investigator with their investigation. The systematic documentation of fire protection systems is a critical task as part of any fire scene. Tampering with, or disabling, fire protection equipment is commonly associated with intentionally set fires. Often times to ensure greater damage or property destruction it is often necessary to impair fire protection systems which would otherwise transmit an early alarm or actively begin suppressing the fire. Offenses such as insurance and business fraud, crime concealment, and arson are aided by investigations which do not consider or explore the condition and operating status of fire protection and building systems. Fire investigators need to not only identify the origin and cause of the fire but, also whether tampering or other violations of administrative codes and regulations caused or contributed to the extent of damage or death/injury to occupants or emergency responders.
The course fee is $50.00 per person and includes a light breakfast and lunch.
*Class size is limited to 150 attendees
*Payments must be received no later than the end of business on Monday, April 24, 2023 and students may pay by PayPal/Credit Card and Purchase Order only. FOR FURTHER DETAILS PLEASE SEE THE “REGISTRATION/PAYMENT OPTIONS” TAB.

The NJIAAI Board Members and Training Committee would like to acknowledge the following members that have achieved the difficult designation and certification as an IAAI-Certified Fire Investigator. The IAAI-CFI® qualification is a standardized evaluation of a fire investigator’s training and expertise. Investigators applying for IAAI-CFI® certification must complete an extensive application requiring documentation, earn sufficient points for their achievements in education, training, and experience, and pass a comprehensive examination. For their achievement in the many hours needed and personal time sacrificed, we would like to recognize the following chapter members.
